This hilly, unspoiled 40-acre property in Crystal
Falls, Michigan, is surrounded by forests. The property is about half
forest itself, including red pine, white pine, aspen, and birch, and one
half meadow and farmland. These habitat features, along with a pond that
the owner established, make the sanctuary an ideal home for deer, American
black bears, moose, wolves, coyotes, badgers, cougars, fishers, foxes,
eagles, geese, ducks, and countless bird species. The many years that
Carroll Lysinger has owned, nurtured, and enjoyed this land and its creatures
led him to seek out the assistance of The Wildlife Land Trust to provide
permanent protection for his beloved wilderness retreat. Now a conservation
easement ensures that the sanctuary will remain forever a safe haven for
the creatures dependent upon it.
