In 1958, Ann Sargent fell in love with an old farmhouse and ten acres of surrounding forest and fields. Over time, she bought adjoining land as it became available, always seeking to expand the area around her home where wildlife would be safe and the natural environment would remain untouched.
At the end of 2006, Ms. Sargent concluded the donation of a conservation easement to the Trust on nearly 70 acres. The rolling meadows and densely wooded areas are alive with songbirds, deer, moose, coyotes, raccoons, red foxes, and squirrels. A pond and stream provide water and additional habitat for wildlife. Ms. Sargent continues to live on her original lot and enjoy the views and animals around her, which will now have a protected home for generations to come.
