The limestone and sandstone bluffs of this 87-acre property lie along
the southwestern edge of the Ozark Mountains. By working with the city
of Fayetteville, the county, neighbors, and the Ozark Regional Land Trust,
we -- along with the owners of this sanctuary -- have created the heart of
what may become a much larger protected area. In addition to renouncing
development on this hilltop preserve, Moorman has carefully inventoried
and monitored hundreds of plants and animals here. These include numerous
wildflowers, such as Dutchman's breeches, bloodroot, and trillium, as
well as several species of oaks and hickories. The property is home to
deer, yellow-throated warblers, bluebirds, owls, and Cooper's hawks.
