Adolph J. and Yolanda Wood donated a conservation easement on their nearly 10-acre property, despite the extraordinarily high economic value of the land for future residential development. Foregoing profit, they opted instead to make an enduring contribution to area wildlife by establishing their property as a wildlife haven. The land is roughly 90 percent meadow, providing for the needs of deer, raccoons, opossums, hares, brush rabbits, gray foxes, coyotes, skunks, weasels, and bats. More than 50 species of birds also make their homes in the trees and other vegetation that grace the gently rolling hills. |
